What is The Best Way To Consume Cannabis?

Welcome to cannabistheanswer.com, the cannabis for everyone site, where we provide a judgment free zone to learn and talk all about cannabis. Today I am talking about the different ways to consume cannabis. As always this is not medical advice and is written for educational purposes only. Some people like to smoke and some do not.

I feel like the most common way to consume cannabis is through smoking it. So, people that don’t like to smoke may feel like cannabis isn’t the right answer for them. This couldn’t be less true, because smoking is only one of many ways to consume cannabis. So, what is the best way to consume cannabis?

I covered this a little bit in my past article “Pros and Cons of Smoking Marijuana“. In this article I began to cover a couple of the ways to consume cannabis and why I liked those ways. I will re-iterate that inhaling marijuana is one of the most direct and consistent forms of dosing, this includes vaping, but again isn’t for everyone. Since I covered smoking so heavily in my previous article I will begin by going further into depth on the other methods of consumption.

Eat it! Eat it! Eat it!

You can hear the kids on the play ground daring Timmy to eat a bug, a worm, or something else disgusting like that. I promise you eating marijuana won’t be traumatizing like this scenario, and it may even help you deal with past traumas like this one as well. This is because when you ingest cannabis it is processed completely different and can be 7 times more effective than any other form of consumption.

This is what makes this one of my favorite ways to consume cannabis, especially when I have an ailment. As I said in my first article “Marijuana for Beginners“, everybody’s’s cannabinoids are different. This being said, I feel like eating cannabis or ingesting it in some way, is the best way to consume it for pain relief. I say this due to my own personal experiences.

I have used cannabis through edibles to help give me relief during many ailments including being sick with the flue and other like illnesses. The reason it helps with such things is because these illnesses often cause aches and pains throughout the body. They also cause sore throat, mucus build up, and often times a cough.

So, smoking while sick even for those that do like smoking it, is not going to be enjoyable. This makes eating it a very good alternative. I also suggest eating it for pain even when you aren’t sick. I say this, because it is up to 7 times more effective this way, and people with pain know how important it is that the pain relief they are trying actually works.

Drop it or mix it.

Kind of sounds like a title for a song that would have been made in the 70s. I assure you, that I am still talking about nothing more than cannabis. You can get cannabis in the form of an oil or tincture. You can consume this in a couple different ways. You can either drop it under your tongue, you can mix it with a beverage, and some use it topically.

Full disclosure, I have not tried it topically, and I cannot speak to how effective it is. What I can tell you is, that I haven’t heard of it having any negative effects, and my friends that have tried it claims it works. It works just fine for me when I drop it under my tongue or mix it with some juice.

When you drop a cannabis tincture under your tongue, use 1-2 drops and let it sit in your mouth for about 30-60 seconds or until it feels like it has absorbed. This is probably the second fasted acting form of dosing cannabis. It will normally set in 15 minutes or less. This is a very simple form of dosing and doesn’t require smoking or consuming sugars, calories and fats, like you would with edibles.

You can also mix tinctures with a beverage. The most popular beverage I have seen used in is tea. I think this is, because it’s natural herbal properties mix well with the herbal properties of the cannabis. However, you can mix it with any beverage. I like the way it tastes with citrus drinks like orange juice. Its like a cannabis screwdriver!

Concentrate!

Another increasingly popular form of cannabis is concentrates. This is when they take and extract the cannabinoids out of cannabis. You can find it in a few different forms.

Vape cartridges- This seems to be climbing it’s way to the top of the list when it comes to ways to consume cannabis. This is because of it’s ease of use and discreteness. People also seem to like it due to it not being nearly as smelly. You can also find vape concentrates in disposables and different vaporizer fitments, such as pods.

Hash– The oldest form of cannabis extract. This is made through compressing the cannabis over and over again until it is in a concentrated form. This is usually smoked by heating a metal object. Then you place the hash on the object and  inhaling the vapors that come off of it.

Dabs– This is any form that you can smoke using what’s called a dab rig. It is called this because you dab a little marijuana concentrate into a heated bowl, and then you inhale the vapors through a water pipe. The water pipe and the special quarts bowl that can handle high heat, create the dab rig. You usually use a propane or butane torch to heat the bowl. Dabs come in many forms including, oils, butters (butter like material), granual or crumble, or what’s called shatter that’s a brittle like material.

Just smoke it!

Like I said in my previous article “Pros and Cons of Smoking Marijuana“, Smoking cannabis is the fastest and most direct way to feel the effects. So, for my people out there that do enjoy smoking and don’t mind the smell, I’m going to talk about my favorite ways to smoke cannabis and why.

Water pipe- This is like my high school sweetheart of ways to consume cannabis. It’s the way I began smoking cannabis, because of the smooth hits it provides. I never liked pipes or “bowls”, because the hits where usually harsh, and didn’t taste so great. With a water pipe, or more commonly a “bong”, I feel like you get a smoother hit with the true flavors of the cannabis.

Tobacco free blunt wraps- This to me is the Ferrari of ways to consume cannabis. Like a Ferrari, being one of the most expensive cars, this can be a pricey way to consume cannabis. This being said, it is worth every penny. The brand I smoke, hits almost as smooth as the water pipe that I mentioned above. They use an all natural non-tobacco leaf wrapped around a corn husk filter with no glue or additives. The corn husk filter is what helps make the hit so smooth. If tobacco-free blunt wraps sound like something you want to try, then click here, to see some of your options.

I hope this helped!

So, what is the best way to consume cannabis? Well, as this article explains, it’s totally up to you to decide! Do you like to smoke? if so, then you have a couple options to try. This is to help you find what is the best way to consume cannabis for you, not me. If you don’t like to smoke, and maybe you have weight problems like I have dealt with, then tinctures and oils can be what you need. If you don’t mind the extra calories, then edibles are a magical way to experience all that cannabis has to offer. As always, I hope this helps, and no matter which form of consumption you choose, take it slow, take edibles slower, and enjoy the benefits!

  2. Hi Conner,
Your post on the best ways to consume cannabis is spot on! I appreciate the detailed breakdown of different methods, from edibles to tinctures and smoking. It’s cool how you’ve shared your personal experiences, making the information relatable. I’m curious, though, about something you didn’t touch on much – the health impacts of these various methods. How do they compare in terms of long-term health effects? Are some methods safer than others, or is it all pretty much the same game?
Thank you for your work and sharing.

I also have an article that reviews a product that is seen as the cleanest way to consume cannabis through inhaling it.
