  1. Very good debate you have going and allthough I am not the biggest fan of the idea I think you have me convinced with more than enough good arguments. It’s funny to me how cannabis has been much more up for talk in society after having been looked down on for a while.

  2. After the legalization of cannabis in several countries and states around the globe, it has become more acceptable for itto be used. But there is still a stigma attached to it in many parts, mainly due to people not knowing enough about cannabis. 

    As a senior, I have read lots of research about the benefits of CBD, and particularly for relief of pain associated with arthritis. I am slightly confused though as you mainly talk about the benefits of cannabis itself, rather than the medicinal and therapeutic benefits of CBD. Should the emphasise for seniors not rather be using CBD, without intoxicating THC, rather than cannabis?

      This is a great question, one that can be cleared up with some clarification. So, Cannabis is a general term for the plant. Whether it be a cannabis hemp plant, which are usually higher in CBD, or a Cannabis marijuana plant which is usually higher in THC. THC has the properties that make you feel the sense or euphoria. If you don’t like the head high associated with marijuana, then I would say stick to Hemp, more popularly known as CBD which is the cannabinoid found in hemp.

  4. I have been trying to get my Dad to use cannabis products for years! 

    He was diagnosed with cancer about 3 years ago, unlike my mom, he has survived his battle so far. I keep urging him to incorporate cannabis into his regime of cancer treatments. I told him it could help with the pain that comes with certain cancer treatments and it could increase his appetite. 

    I am going to share this article with him in hopes that this can aid in swaying him into trying CBD at the very least. I truly feel that he would benefit from CBD. I want him to decide to use it on his own, I feel like a nag when I am constantly harping at him about it.

    I will point out the potential benefits listed in your article, maybe I just have relayed the benefits correctly, or he is just old enough to be too scared to try it because of the laws he grew up with pertaining to cannabis.

      It is always nice to hear from you. I’m sorry to hear about your fathers battle with cancer. I hope you are able to get him to try some form of cannabis as it could be extremely helpful for him. I personally recommend tinctures. They are easy to use 3 drops under the tongue, let sit and absorb for about 30 seconds. Its okay if it doesn’t all absorb, and they usually take effect in 5 minutes or less.

      As far as strains for seniors, it all depends on the individual. My other article “What is Indica and Sativa?”, can be helpful in decided what the best strain for you is! I always suggest starting with hybrids, but studying the strains they mixed to make the hybrid, so you know what strains do what to you. Everybody’s endocannabinoid system is structured differently and it doesn’t always have to do with age, shape or size. 

      Also the best way to go about navigating the options, is to go to a dispensary. A dispensary is far more than a store to buy cannabis. It is an education center as well. They do a great job of hosting a wide range of age groups and experience levels. I remember being new to cannabis, and being nervous about my first dispensary trip. Afterwards I had no clue why I was nervous.

      I hope you are having a good week! I do not ever intend to project cannabis as a miracle fix-all. It is not, nor is anything else a miracle fix-all. Without the clouds in the sky we wouldn’t appreciate the sun when it shines. Without problems we would never advance as a civilization. We are meant to solve problems. So, to take all our problems away is completely unnatural. I only intend to educate people on the possible benefits that cannabis can have for individuals. 

      As far as your questions go, I have one answer for both of them… CBD rich cannabis is in my opinion the best place to start. Which is good because you can get that a lot more readily in a lot more places than THC rich cannabis. CBD still comes in strain specific methods of consumption. The best advice I can offer here is to start with a hybrid, as it wont have severe effects in either direction. For instance an indica strain can make you sleepy, or a sativa strain can make you feel like you drank a little too much coffee. Whereas a hybrid wont push you too far in either direction.

  8. Hi it`s a pleasure to hear from you, I live in Europe and I feel we are still a long way to legalizing Cannabis.

    The last few years, I have suffered from very painful joint pain in the winter and a neighbour suggested I should ask my doctor for medical cannabis, I don`t think it will be taken well in my family. We go generations back wh do not accept drinking or smoking cigarettes.

    But maybe before I turn to cannabis, I should first try THC and CBD, with the pain I go through in the winter I think anything is worth trying. BTW I’m over 50.
